Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has played down rumours linking him to Manchester United, saying it would be ‘disrespectful’ to discuss a move.
The Dutch midfielder has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with former Netherlands CT Louis van Gaal on the bench at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old is recovering from a cruciate ligament injury, and insists he’s just focused on attaining full fitness.
“I want to play more, and return to my best level,” Strootman told Sky.

“I want to play more, and return to my best level,” Strootman told Sky.
“I’ve signed up for five years, but so far I’ve only been playing for six or seven months. I want to play and help the team. That’s important to me.
“If I spoke about other clubs that would be disrespectful, and I don’t want to do that.”
The former PSV Eindhoven man went on to admit that he hasn’t been at his best in recent months, but assured that he soon would be.
“I worked for eight months to come back. I played against Sassuolo and I wasn’t good, then I came on against [CSKA] Moscow and wasn’t right.
“After the winter break I’ve been training with more confidence, I feel better physically and I’m returning to 100 per cent.
“I’m not there yet, but I’m coming back.”
