Thomas Strakosha “didn’t expect to be playing” at San Siro against Milan, but made his Serie A debut in the Lazio goal.
The 21-year-old Albanian was called upon this evening after Federico Marchetti failed a fitness test for a calf injury, despite Marchetti originally being named in the starting XI.
“I did not expect to be playing, but it went well,” Strakosha told lazionews.eu and Lazio Style Radio after the 2-0 defeat.

“What counts is the result, though, not my debut, so I really can’t be happy about that. The match had many emotions for me, but when losing there’s little good that remains.
“The club and the Coach believe in me, so I appreciated that and remained at Lazio. Before the match, (team manager and former goalkeeper Angelo) Peruzzi told me to enjoy myself.
“I spoke to my family before the game and they were very happy. My father was even more stressed than when he used to play.”
Strakosha’s father is Fotaq Strakosha, former Albania goalkeeper and current Coach of the Under-19 national squad.
