Step forward for Inter in talks for Chelsea outcast Lukaku

Inter are continuing to edge closer to a deal for Romelu Lukaku and a breakthrough could be reached with Chelsea in the coming days, reports detail.

The 30-year-old Belgian striker is technically associated with Chelsea after his loan spell with the Nerazzurri came to an end last week, but he has no intention of returning to West London.

Lukaku has been quietly training in Sardinia, waiting for Inter and Chelsea to agree a deal that’ll allow him to move forward in the Lombardy capital, putting his Blues time behind him.

Pages four and five of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport detail how Inter met with Lukaku’s lawyer Sebastien Ledure yesterday to take stock of the talks with Chelsea.

The Nerazzurri are confident that an agreement can be reached and are now gearing up to send in an official offer, a definitive deal worth around €30m.

The hope is that Lukaku will officially be an Inter player again ahead of the pre-season preparations, which kick off on July 16.
