Maarten Stekelenburg is confident he can become the best goalkeeper at World Cup 2014 by staying at Roma.
The Dutchman requested a capital exit during the January transfer window after losing his place in the first team under Zdenek Zeman.
The former Ajax man even took a flight to London on deadline day for talks with Fulham, only for the deal to collapse at the last moment.
However, Stekelenburg was restored as the first-choice ahead of Mauro Goicoechea after Zeman was replaced by Aurelio Andreazzoli in February.
“I’m now happy,” he told the Corriere dello Sport. “I’m no longer thinking about Fulham and I no longer want to leave Roma.
“I want to stay and I want to become the best goalkeeper of the World Cup that will be played in Brazil in 2014.”
Stekelenburg, 30, has won over 50 caps for Holland.
