“I really liked the way Spalletti dealt with that situation, as he did not just come out and say banal things,” noted Giampaolo.
“He was credible and professional, but also charismatic. It’s no surprise, as he is an international level Coach.
“Since Spalletti returned, the Giallorossi have been on a very impressive run of five consecutive Serie A victories.
“The team has been reinvigorated and you can see the difference. They are tighter and play in the opposition half, plus have rediscovered their self-belief.
“In any case, Empoli will be able to have our say.”
The Tuscans are forced to reshuffle, because Lorenzo Tonelli and Riccardo Saponara are suspended.
Defender Tonelli begins a three-match ban for making the ‘handcuffs’ gesture when sent off last week against Sassuolo.
“I thought the red card in itself was over the top and his gesture lasted a fraction of a second. He made a mistake and is paying the price, but three rounds does seem excessive.
“Uros Cosic will start in defence, as he did very well against Sassuolo. When he arrived he was still recovering from an injury, so his form is a pleasant surprise.”
