According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Southampton have placed an opening bid for Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg.
The 23-year-old was one of the most surprising midfielders in Serie A last term and managed three goals and three assists in 36 appearances under Sinisa Mihajlovic.
His most important goal in 2021-22 was probably the winner against José Mourinho’s Roma at the Stadio Dall’Ara on December 1.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Rossoblu have now received a €10m bid for the Sweden international who has been playing with the Rossoblu during the last four years.
Svanberg’s contract at the Stadio Dall’Ara runs out in June 2023 and Bologna are open to selling their midfielder for a suitable offer.
The 23-year-old joined Bologna from Malmoe in the summer of 2018 for €4.5m.
He has scored nine goals in 123 appearances with the Rossoblu. Svanberg made his senior Sweden debut in November 2019 and has scored one goal in 21 games with his national team.
