Sky: Mourinho’s Roma open talks with Chelsea for Chalobah

Sky Sport Italia reports Roma have made a formal request to Chelsea to get Trevoh Chalobah on loan in January.

The Giallorossi are expected to sign a new centre-back in the winter transfer window as Chris Smalling and Marash Kumbulla have been sidelined for several months, so José Mourinho has been left short of options at the back in the first part of the season.

According to Sky Sport Italia’s correspondent in Rome Paolo Assogna, the Giallorossi have set their sights on Chelsea defender Chalobah and have already inquired about the 24-year-old.

Chalobah is expected to return to action soon following a thigh injury. He made 31 appearances across all competitions with Chelsea last season.

Roma are interested in a potential loan deal, but the Blues can only loan out one player in the January transfer window, so they’ll need to make a decision on who will leave the club on a temporary transfer next month.
