The club has been in utter chaos since November with eight changes of management, culminating today in the arrival of new Coach Walter Novellino.

President Maurizio Zamparini said he’ll quit and wants someone to replace him, but Giovanni Trapattoni already said no.

Now another former Inter manager, Simoni, could take on the job instead.

“I haven’t had any recent contact with President Zamparini,” he told Calciomercato.it.

“When he was President of Venezia, he called me many times to take over as Coach of his time, while at Palermo he asked me to become his technical director.

“After thinking about it for a while, I decided to take another path and became President of Cremonese. Now I don’t know what the future will hold, but my rapport with Zamparini is excellent.

“Of course if he asked me to be President of a Serie A side like Palermo, I could only be happy. It’d be another step forward in my career and I couldn’t say no.

“Palermo is a beautiful city and I was always impressed when I went there as an opponent. I’d have liked to experience playing there. Unfortunately, I never got that opportunity.”
