Sheva: ‘Roma-Shakhtar is 50-50’

Ukraine Coach Andriy Shevchenko believes tonight’s Roma-Shakhtar Donetsk game is “50-50”.

The Milan legend is familiar with both teams, and he spoke to Sky ahead of tonight’s Champions League Last 16 tie, with the Giallorossi looking to overturn a 2-1 defeat in the first leg.

“I’d say it’s 50-50,” Shevchenko said.

“Roma gave me a very good impression in the first half of the first leg. They played very well, they controlled the game and were compact.

“They started well and they managed to stop Shakhtar finding space.

“[Paulo] Fonseca’s team has technical and fast players who can find space between the lines and as soon as you give them space on the pitch they turn around and counter-attack you, which is what happened in the second half.

“I think Roma know how to construct the game, but Shakhtar do too. They’re in great form.”
