The 2019-20 Serie C season is over, as the clubs agreed to terminate it here, promoting Monza, Vicenza, Reggina and probably Carpi to Serie B, while there will be no relegations.

Today’s Lega Pro meeting reached a unanimous conclusion, as the coronavirus pandemic makes it impossible for the clubs to follow all medical protocols required to resume in safety.

They are therefore going to end the season here, promoting the three group winners from the regional divisions – Monza, Vicenza and Reggina – while a fourth would originally have been decided via play-offs.

That fourth team is now going to be Carpi, because a points system was used to calculate their coefficient, putting them ahead of Bari.

All of this is the proposal that the Lega Serie C/Lega Pro is putting forward and it needs to be ratified by the FIGC tomorrow.

“This is the best meeting that I have been in since I’ve been President of the Lega Pro,” President Francesco Ghirelli told Tuttomercatoweb.

“I wish to underline the great sense of responsibility and respect that I saw. All 60 clubs were present in the videoconference and sensitivity was the most important element.

“There was a discussion on the fourth promotion, with some pushing to go through play-offs, but after the debate, we voted to focus on sporting merit.”

There will be no relegations from Serie C this summer.
