Serie B side Varese have officially appointed Coach Rolando Maran after sacking Benny Carbone.
The club axed Carbone on Saturday morning after just seven games in charge, as the 1-0 home defeat to Sassuolo was the final straw.
“We needed a change to shake up the season,” explained President Antonio Rosati.
“It's results that count in football and, even if we dominated Sassuolo for long periods of the game, the fact is we have picked up six points from seven matches by scoring only two goals.”
Maran was available after he terminated his contract with Vicenza by mutual consent in June.
By a bizarre twist of fate, his debut match in charge of Varese will be against Vicenza.
