Serie A | Atalanta 0-2 Lazio: Sarri dismantles La Dea

Lazio have caught Atalanta on 24 points after inflicting the first defeat of the season on La Dea thanks to Mattia Zaccagni and Felipe Anderson well-worked team goals, despite missing Ciro Immobile.

The Biancocelesti were forced to do without injured hitman Immobile, so Felipe Anderson became the False 9, while La Dea were still missing Rafael Toloi, Davide Zappacosta and suspended Jose Luis Palomino. Duvan Zapata and Juan Musso were available on the bench after several weeks out.

Watch the highlights here.

Lazio started strong and took the lead with a really well-worked team move, Manuel Lazzari feeding Pedro down the right, he rolled across and Mattia Zaccagni was in acres of space to tap in from seven yards.

This was only the second time this season that Atalanta found themselves in a trailing situation, the other lasted just four minutes against Sassuolo.

Luis Muriel couldn’t control the Ademola Lookman assist and Hans Hateboer’s diving header was over at the back post, while Matias Vecino fired over from a Sergej Milinkovic-Savic assist.

Atalanta made changes at the break, but still went 2-0 down to a counter-attack, as Adam Marusic sprinted down the left and rolled across for Felipe Anderson to take a touch and place into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Marco Sportiello palmed a Zaccagni effort round the post and Teun Koopmeiners didn’t connect properly with Muriel’s cross, while Hateboer turned another header over the bar.

Muriel completed the misery with his second bookable offence in the final minute.
