Semplici: ‘SPAL running out of time’

SPAL coach Leonardo Semplici warned they “need to improve quickly” to stay in Serie A after a home defeat to Bologna.

They had taken the lead in this local derby through Andrea Petagna’s penalty, but Bologna turned it around to win 3-1 in Ferrara.

“Even though the result went against us, it was a good SPAL performance,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We tried to get the victory, but some situations should’ve been read better, developed with more determination. We’ve got to get a move-on now, because we’re running out of time and have to start putting together a series of wins.

“It’s not good that after a victory against Atalanta, we then lose the very next match. We need to improve quickly and correct our mistakes, especially on home turf.

“Safety is still possible and we’ll battle to the very end.”
