The Spallini have beaten Bologna, Parma and Atalanta, losing to Torino with the only goal they’ve conceded this season, and came into this round in second place.
“This game will be an important test and we want to build a sense of consistency in both our results and performances. It’ll be tough in a very passionate stadium against a Fiorentina team that has been working together for a long time.
“They did well against Napoli last week, even if they lost, while the midweek draw at Sampdoria was impressive too. I don’t think they’ll be tired after that rescheduled match, because this squad was built for the Europa League.
“Having said all that, we want to get a result in Florence.”
Semplici is a self-confessed Fiorentina supporter and former Coach of the Viola youth team.
“Naturally, it’s always a pleasure for me to return to my home town, my friends and my family. It might be slightly less emotional this time, seeing as I experienced it last season.”
Midfielder Federico Viviani is ruled out by injury, but Kevin Bonifazi returns.
