Schalke 04 are thought to be in advanced talks with Sassuolo for striker Nicola Sansone.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Schalke Coach Roberto Di Matteo has set his sights firmly on the 23-year-old.
“Our director of sport Horst Heldt is working on a last-minute buy to be completed by deadline day,” President Clemens Tonnies told reporters.
“Sansone? I cannot confirm if we are negotiating for this player.”

Sansone is not new to the Bundesliga, as he was born in Germany to Italian parents and grew up in the Bayern Munich youth academy.
He then moved to Parma in July 2011 and Sassuolo in January 2014.
So far this season Sansone has scored five goals and provided two assists in 22 games for Sassuolo between Serie A and Coppa Italia.
If Sansone is on the way out, it would explain why Sassuolo are rejecting Juventus offers for Simone Zaza.
