Scaroni: ‘Milan removed FFP burden’

Milan President Paolo Scaroni assures giving up on the Europa League “did us good by taking away the burden of Financial Fair Play.”

The Rossoneri had qualified for the tournament, but rather than risk ending up in the same situation next year with huge Financial Fair Play discrepancies, they agreed with UEFA to be excluded and wipe the slate clean.

“It did hurt to go out of Europe, but it did us good by taking away the burden of Financial Fair Play,” Scaroni told Sky Sport Italia.

“I am convinced the directors will make some excellent operations on the transfer market.”

Milan are rebuilding under new Coach Marco Giampaolo, who lost his pre-season friendlies in America, but only by tight margins.

“Giampaolo has really impressed our players, there is a great deal of enthusiasm and I am convinced we’ll achieve good results. I was struck by the desire to play good football.”
