Scamacca to replace Haaland? Borussia Dortmund make opening bid

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Borussia Dortmund have identified Gianluca Scamacca as a possible replacement for Erling Haaland and the Bundesliga giants have already submitted an opening bid.

Haaland is expected to leave Borussia in the summer, with several top clubs linked with securing his services.

PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid are keen on the Norway international and Borussia Dortmund are already considering possible replacements.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sassuolo striker Scamacca is one of their primary targets.

The pink paper reports that Borussia have placed a formal €45m bid to secure his signature in January, leaving the striker on loan at the Mapei Stadium at the end of the season.

“There were some calls from Italy, but mainly from abroad, because there isn’t much possibility for investment in the Italian clubs at the moment. Fortunately, there’s the overseas market too,” Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali said about Scamacca’s future earlier this week.

Inter are also strongly interested in Scamacca and the striker would prefer moving to San Siro rather than abroad.

Sassuolo reportedly informed the Nerazzurri about Borussia’s offer. Scamacca believes Inter are the ideal step to continue his career and will likely snub the chance to move to Germany.

The Neroverdi are ready to see Scamacca leave in the summer and could replace him with Pisa forward Lorenzo Lucca, scorer of six goals in 17 Serie B games this term.
