Gianluca Scamacca could start for Genoa against Milan tomorrow and admits he’d be more than happy to be the understudy to ‘icon’ Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The striker is still owned by Sassuolo, but on loan at Genoa, and was already linked with Juventus, Roma and Milan back in January.
Ibrahimovic is suspended for tomorrow’s game, much to the disappointment of Scamacca.
“He is an icon for me,” the Italian told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He is an icon for me,” the Italian told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Seeing him do some things at his age, often with even more determination than he had before, the way he carries the team on his shoulder, it all stimulates and fascinates me.
“I think: if he can do it, why can’t I? When I was playing in Holland and I’d do a backheel, they’d ask me if I was trying to be like Ibrahimovic, but you learn those things playing on the street.
“After so much of that, I went to look at some videos of Ibra and did see some similarities in our playing style.”
The two strikers are even exactly the same height, 1.95 metres. What does Ibrahimovic have that Scamacca would like to take?
“His bank balance. Kidding aside, it’s his bravado.”
Scamacca was asked if he would be open to the idea of training with Ibrahimovic at Milan next season.
“A young player must always try to learn from those around him and steal the secrets to their success. If you are the understudy to a champion who is 38 years old and can’t play every single game, then that’s a different situation to being second choice elsewhere.”
