Atalanta technical director Giovanni Sartori has claimed Papu Gomez, Josip Ilicic and Duvan Zapata will ‘remain in Bergamo for a while’.
The ‘three tenors’, as Sartori called them, have been in remarkable shape for the Orobici this term and have helped Gian Piero Gasperini’s men to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and fourth in Serie A.
La Dea are known for their transfer business and usually sell their most promising assets to make room for the next crop to develop in Bergamo, but Sartori claims they have ‘also invested a lot’ and aim to keep the three attackers.
“It’s true that we have sold a lot, but it’s not true that we sell when the right offer arrives,” he said, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
“The principle is to sell one or two from the team, but we sell to become stronger. I believe the three tenors will remain in Bergamo for a while.
“It’s a belief but also a hope. I believe it’s also what the owner wants.”
