Maurizio Sarri said Napoli missed “a bit of luck” in their 0-0 draw with Genoa and wanted a penalty on Gonzalo Higuain.
A victory would’ve put the Partenopei joint top of the table with Fiorentina and Inter, but they fired blanks at Marassi.
“We lacked a bit of luck compared to previous games,” Sarri told Mediaset Premium, albeit using a more colourful term in Italian slang.

“We put in a great performance against a difficult opponent and on a pitch that made it difficult to play football. The state of the turf meant players always had to take an extra touch.
“We created many scoring opportunities, it’s just a shame about the result. We cannot expect to win every single game. It’s always tough against Gian Piero Gasperini’s sides.
“There was also a clear penalty on Higuain and it would’ve been a red card, because he was right in front of the goal. We are the team who play the most in the penalty area, yet had very few spot-kicks this season.
“This was our third game in a week, so it’s only natural to lack sharpness. We could’ve won comfortably with all those opportunities, so I am not angry and in fact complimented the lads.
“Higuain was a little isolated and at a certain point I introduced Manolo Gabbiadini to give him more support. The 4-3-3 system does give width and it can leave the centre-forward isolated at times.
“Why did Dries Mertens start instead of Lorenzo Insigne? He looked sharper in training.”
