The 23-year-old was interviewed following his side’s 1-1 draw with Sampdoria at the Marassi tonight, and believes his team became ‘greedy’ after going ahead.

He also took time to compare Coach Marco Giampaolo with his predecessor the ‘more sanguine’ Maurizio Sarri.

“After going 1-0 up we became greedy, because we were having a great game playing our football, without fear and with personality, creating problems for Sampdoria,” he told Sky Sport.

“But it’s a great point, congratulations to my teammates.

“Pucciarelli scored a beautiful goal, he gives everything for the team.

“The work in defence? It's expected in my role, I consider myself a midfielder, so I have to help out in the defensive phases as well to keep the team tight and cover the ball.

“I think my ideal role is as a trequartista, but I am willing to play in any role, if I had to do so for the national team then even more so.

“But I can also do it for Empoli, then it’s up to the Coach to decide.

“Sarri and Giampaolo? They’re two similar Coaches for their desire to play football and take advantage of the technical skills of the individuals, extracting as much as possible.

“Sarri is more sanguine, Giampaolo more peaceful and quiet. Giampaolo is giving continuity, he has been good at not revolutionising things."
