“The decision is definitive, unless something changes on the other side,” President Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro told Radio Bandeirantes.
“Milan finished up at a pretty reasonable price-tag, less than €6m. Everyone knows what he wants to earn and we have to respect that.
“However, what Robinho wants to earn coupled with what the club would’ve paid Milan creates a figure that is implausible for any Brazilian club.”
Robinho told the Brazilian media that he had agreed to a 35 per cent pay cut from his current Milan salary in order to push through the move, but that was still not enough.
Santos argued the cut did not include extras, such as commissions for his father and lawyer, plus the hiring of his favoured personal trainer.
Nonetheless, these statements from the Santos President are an open invitation for the player to lower his expectations.
Milan had originally requested €10m for Robinho, so the drop to under €6m is well below the rumoured €7m agreed fee.
The Rossoneri are still eager to sell, as he is on the final year of his contract and they cannot bring in Adem Ljajic from Fiorentina until Robinho leaves.
