The former goalkeeper has had a many and varied management career in several different countries, including the USA, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Dubai.
Linked with the Inter job last year, his only Serie A coaching experiences are at Catania and a very brief spell with Palermo.
Other options for Sampdoria include current Parma boss Roberto Donadoni, Empoli’s Maurizio Sarri and Palermo Coach Giuseppe Iachini.
