‘Samp not decisive but…’

Atalanta Coach Gian Piero Gasperini says tomorrow’s Sampdoria game “is not yet decisive” but his side can take “a big step” toward the Europa League.

The Orobici currently sit three points ahead of tomorrow’s opponents, with Milan a further three points ahead of them in sixth place.

“It’s not yet decisive, but by winning we could take a big step forward,” Gasperini said in his pre-match Press conference.

“We don’t have to make calculations, only one result counts. It’s true that we’ve already overtaken them, but we can’t be satisfied because three points would give us the chance to open an important gap.

“We’ll face an opponent with a well-defined style of play, who are showing their value this season.

“We’re in good form, and we want to replicate the performance against Udinese. On Saturday we had pace and patience and we need to maintain that, along with concentration and motivation.

“We need to complicate life for those following us in the table and defend this seventh place. If we can succeed in that then we can also think about those ahead of us.”
