Juventus defender Daniele Rugani acknowledges “the expectations on us are huge” but “we must ignore external pressures”.
The Bianconeri have won the double for the past two seasons in a row, and are expected to go deep into the Champions League this season after a Last 16 exit last term.
“As we know, the expectations on us are huge this year,” Rugani admitted, speaking to Sky.
“So we have to be strong as a group and put those external pressures aside, even the ones that come if we have subdued first half and go in at 0-0, or don’t express the best of our game.
“So we all know how it is, and we have to accept the situation this year and make sure we’re all united.
“We must ignore these external pressures and continue on our path, continue to take points and try to move forward in every competition.”
Rugani is seen as the future of the Juve backline, and believes he has improved a lot in his two seasons in the first team.
“I’m growing as a player and as a man, all thanks to the greater responsibility and the environment.
“I’ve made progress, but I still have a lot to learn to become an important part of this team in the future.”
