Raffaele Rubino scored a record-breaking goal, netting for Novara in four different Divisions. “I dreamed of this moment.”
The striker has hit the back of the net for this club 16 times in Serie C2, 56 in Serie C1, six in Serie B and as of the 2-1 win over Parma also in Serie A.
He becomes the only player ever to have scored in all four major Italian Divisions for the same club.
“I wanted this record and dreamed of this moment at night,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
Rubino was clearly moved, as he was in tears when celebrating with teammates and holding up a shirt with ‘Record’ written on it.
“I gave a lot to this team and this city, so I think I deserved a moment in the sun. I was so fired up today that I didn’t even need the warm-up.
“We have been playing really well recently and not picking up the results. The side gave its heart and soul today to bring home the three points.”
Novara had only one Serie A victory all season against Inter on September 20.
