The Viola midfielder discussed the two players today after recent speculation that they could soon be heading out the Artemio Franchi door.

He also praised the club’s progression in recent years, but admitted he is surprised that they are as high as second in the standings.

“Since I arrived at Fiorentina we’ve always played well and we’ve grown year by year,” Valero said to Corriere dello Sport.

“But I didn’t expect to be second in the table and one point from the top after such a short space of time.

“I understand Rossi’s desire to be at the Euros. I have a special relationship with Giuseppe, I love him a lot, he’s the strongest player I’ve played with. I hope he makes the best choice to win back an Azzurri place.

“I wish with all my heart that Bernardeschi ends up on the transfer market at a top international club. For us though, it’d be much worse to have to do without him.”
