Sampdoria boss Delio Rossi will make a donation to charity after his club fined him for his vulgar hand gesture at the weekend.
Rossi courted more controversy on Sunday after he showed his middle finger to Roma stopper Nicolas Burdisso in the closing stages of their win over the Giallorossi.
“I’m sorry for the gesture because, as I have always said, I’ve always been respectful and I always demand respect,” he wrote on the club’s website.
“For the role that I hold, I happily accept the fine imposed on me by the club which will be handed over to the Giannina Gaslini Children’s hospital.”
Rossi hit the headlines for the wrong reasons last season when he was involved in a touchline brawl with Fiorentina attacker Adem Ljajic. He was subsequently sacked as Viola boss.
