Ronaldo: ‘Inter will recover’

Ronaldo says Inter “will recover” and “fight to the end with Juve”.

Roberto Mancini’s side are in crisis, falling from first to fifth in the space of just seven games, and off the pitch it’s rumoured former President Massimo Moratti will sell his remaining shares.

Roberto Mancini’s side are in crisis, falling from first to fifth in the space of just seven games, and off the pitch it’s rumoured former President Massimo Moratti will sell his remaining shares.

“I saw Inter had a great start to the season,” Ronaldo, who scored 59 goals in 99 appearances for the Beneamata told Calciomercato.

“They’ve had a decline, but they’ll recover. It will be a good fight to the end with Juve, who can count on the strongest Italian player: [Gigi] Buffon.

“Moratti? Inter have never lost Moratti, and that’s shown by the fact he’s still close to the President [Erick Thohir] and Mancini.”

Inter lost the Scudetto to Juventus on the last day of the season in 2002, is that the worst memory of Ronaldo’s career?

“Not as much as July 12 1998 in Paris. We [Brazil] lost the [World Cup] final 3-0 to France. The good thing is I made up for it four years later, with two goals against Germany, the trophy and I was top scorer with eight goals.

“That was definitely the greatest joy for me and my country."

The Brazilian legend also played for Barcelona, Milan and Real Madrid, and was asked to name the best player he’s played with.

“I had the chance to play with virtually all of the best players from my era, having always played in great teams,” Ronaldo noted.

“Honestly I’ll make a list but I’m sorry because I’ll leave out a lot of friends and world champions.

“In no particular order, the ones who come to mind are [Alessandro] Nesta, [Javier] Zanetti, [Andrea] Pirlo, [Paolo] Maldini, [Luis] Figo, Raul, [Roberto] Baggio and [Hristo] Stoichkov.

“There are many more, plus all my teammates with the Selecao. It’s an endless list of star players, as you can see.

“The best striker right now? I can’t say one, there are three. [Robert] Lewandowski, [Luis] Suarez and [Karim] Benzema. They’re equal.”
