Roma have announced defender Mert Cetin required surgery to remove an impacted wisdom tooth after a respiratory tract infection.
The 22-year-old Turkey international arrived from Genclerbirligi over the summer and is still waiting to make his debut.
He was left out of the squad to face Atalanta tomorrow and the reason has now been clarified via a club statement.
“After returning to the club from international duty, Mert Cetin was struck down by a respiratory tract infection that required him to take a prolonged period of rest.

“During the course of the process to diagnose the problem, an issue with one of the player’s teeth was discovered. For this reason, the player recently underwent surgery to remove an impacted wisdom tooth.
“Cetin is currently on complete rest. Over the coming days he will begin a process of resuming physical activity.”
