Romagnoli replaced Giorgio Chiellini in Italy’s central defence against Liechtenstein, doing his bit to ensure the Azzurri held on for their fifth consecutive clean sheet.
“We did well to not underestimate the game, break it open and keep doing more,” he told Rai Sport.
“The important thing was to stay focused throughout the match. I try to give my all. After that, the Coach makes his decisions.
“Bonucci and Chiellini are two great players, but I must always make myself ready.”
The Milan stopper remains only one of two players from Europe’s top five Leagues – the other being Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk – to have not been dribbled past…
“The important thing is the results of the team, not those numbers. I’ve been good until now!” he responded.
“We’re aware of our strength. The Coach has been good at getting into our heads. The important thing is to win and keep doing so.”
