Roma are reportedly close to signing Mehmet Zeki Çelik from Lille and have made a €20m bid for Houssem Aouar.
The Giallorossi announced Nemanja Matic on Tuesday, but José Mourinho is looking for more new faces to bolster the team in 2022-23.
According to Calciomercato.com, the Giallorossi are close to signing Çelik from Lille. The Turkey international will become Rick Karsdorp’s backup at the Stadio Olimpico. The player has already agreed personal terms with the Giallorossi, who are now finalising an agreement with the Ligue 1 side The Turkey international should join Roma for circa €7.5m.
At the same time, Lille are interested in Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout and could soon open negotiations in a different deal from the one that will see Çelik move to the capital. Former Giallorossi coach Paulo Fonseca is one of the candidates to take over at Lille and the deal will likely be completed if the Portuguese boss is eventually appointed.
Aouar could replace the France international at the Stadio Olimpico as sport.fr reports Roma have made a €20m offer to sign the Lyon star. However, their proposal is still not high enough for the French club.
Davide Frattesi remains on the club’s radars and both he and Aouar could move to the Stadio Olimpico, given that Amadou Diawara and Ebrima Darboe are expected to depart in the summer.
