There are reports Roma will not take up their option to sign midfielder Marquinho on a permanent basis.

The Brazilian arrived in January from Fluminense and impressed under Coach Luis Enrique, but is not necessarily part of new tactician Zdenek Zeman’s plans.

The option to make the move permanent expires on June 25 and according to the latest from TMW, Roma do not intend to use it.

Marquinho could still remain in Serie A, as several Italian clubs are thought to be interested in him.

Meanwhile, the Giallorossi are also in talks with Real Madrid for Fernando Gago.

They did not take up their option on the Argentine international, but are reportedly trying to work out a new loan deal or lower the price-tag significantly.
