It was always unlikely that the Giallorossi would sell the Greek defender this summer, as a clause in the deal which brought him from Olympiakos means they’d have to give his former side 50 per cent of any fee.
The Lupi are obliged to buy the other half of Manolas’ registration for €6.5m on September 1, but selling him before that would invoke the clause.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the defender will be offered a new contract, raising his salary to €3m per season plus bonuses.
However, it’s thought Manolas is unhappy, as he could have earned far more by moving to the English Premier League.
It’s claimed Arsenal made a bid of €35m [£29.8m] last week, and were offering a salary of €5m per season.
The offer was rejected though, as Roma President James Pallotta has decreed that no key players will be sold after the elimination from the Champions League.
Therefore Manolas is considered unsellable this summer, but is likely to move next summer when the 50 per cent clause is no longer in effect.
