‘Roma must learn from Bayern loss’

Former Roma player Alessio Scarchilli believes the Giallorossi must learn the lessons of their humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Rudi Garcia’s side capitulated to the German champions, losing five goals in the first half before eventually succumbing 7-1.

Scarchilli, a Rome-native who came up through the club’s youth system, admits that the defeat was embarrassing, but believes the club can learn from the experience.

“This defeat, in terms of the result, is very heavy and is humiliating,” Scarchilli told Sky.

“But I think we have to consider a few things. This is the first time something like this has happened under Garcia.

“This game caught the imagination of Roma, and they were a little lacking in organisation against such a strong team.

“They reacted immediately after the first goal. Roma wanted to get a grip on the game, but then conceded the second and third goal and surrendered mentally.

“I believe Roma must learn from these things.

“They’re a club who are representing Italian football, and they still have many chances to win with this squad.”
