The 23-year-old Steaua Bucharest centre-back appeared to have slipped out of the Giallorossi’s grasp, but there is still hope.
“It’s true, it was practically done with Tottenham, but then the Steaua directors decided to block his sale until at least December,” Victor Becali told Calciomercato.it.
“They are really focused on getting through the Champions League preliminary round and don’t want to lose him now.
“After that, I don’t know if he will go to London. There is no deal with Tottenham and nothing has been signed.
“Could Roma get themselves back into the race? In theory, yes.”
The Romanian international already has 18 senior caps to his name. He is versatile, as he can play at centre-back, right-back or as a defensive midfielder.
