Roma are having crisis talks on whether to sack Zdenek Zeman after last night’s 4-2 defeat to Cagliari, as Laurent Blanc and Marco Giampaolo are in pole position.
The Giallorossi had already given their support to Zeman earlier this week, but the home humiliation at the hands of Cagliari could prove the final straw.
Director general Franco Baldini has reportedly offered to resign following a telephone conversation with President James Pallotta in Boston.
Present at the meeting in Rome’s Tonucci and Partners studio today are CEO Italo Zanzi, director general Baldini, general manager Walter Sabatini and director Claudio Fenucci.
It was also reported that after a few hours of discussions, the group was joined by Roma’s Press officer, suggesting a statement will be released promptly.
Ex-France manager Blanc is the prime candidate to take over from Zeman, although he would want a contract of at least 18 months.
If Roma want more time to consider their options, then Marco Giampaolo has been suggested as a caretaker Coach to the end of the season.
There have already been reports that the Giallorossi are lining up current Milan man Massimiliano Allegri or PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti for next season.
