Cagliari legend Gigi Riva has praised the club’s new President Tommaso Giulini, saying he has transformed the feeling at the club.
The businessman recently acquired the Sardinian club from Massimo Cellino, who sold up in order to buy and invest in Leeds United.
Speaking to outlet La Nuova Sardegna, the member of Cagliari’s famous Scudetto winning side of 1970 also revealed he is considering taking up Giulini’s offer of becoming the club’s honorary President.
“Me as honorary President? Maybe,” Riva said. “I certainly don’t want any more tension or to suffer for football.
“Giulini’s words made me very happy and Zeman also said some flattering things about me. I thank him for having said I was his idol.
“We will see each other soon and go for dinner, which will be nice.
“Giulini must be thanked because he has freed us from an embarrassing situation. There is a completely different atmosphere around the club.
“I spoke to the President some months ago, before his negotiations to buy the club had begun.
“I liked his ideas immediately, I saw that despite his youth he had enthusiasm and capability. He is decisive and that is what we needed.”
