Saturday’s reports suggest that Daniele De Rossi could deploy Paulo Dybala in a new role for Roma once he returns from international duty with Argentina.
Dybala up front for Roma?
According to both Il Messaggero and Corriere dello Sport, De Rossi could utilise Dybala as a false nine for Roma’s upcoming Serie A clash away against Genoa.
The thinking is that summer signing Artem Dovbyk could be offered a rest after a tough start in the Giallorossi shirt, and that Dybala could return to the line-up in his place. Matias Soule and late summer arrival Alexis Saelemaekers are also in line to keep their spots in the starting XI.
La Joya got his first goal of the 2024-25 season on Friday in the first minute of second half injury time during Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Chile.
He has started in just one of Roma’s first three games of the Serie A season, having back-tracked on a massive contract offer from the Saudi Pro League towards the end of the summer transfer window.
