Report: Sampdoria want Petagna

Sampdoria are reportedly in talks with Napoli over a possible deal for Andrea Petagna, after Manolo Gabbiadini was injured against Milan.

The Blucerchiati are looking for a new striker for Roberto D’Aversa’s squad, as Gabbiadini suffered an ankle injury in the match against the Rossoneri on Monday.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports Samp are in talks with the Partenopei over a possible return for Petagna.

The 26-year-old striker spent one season at Sampdoria on loan from Milan in 2013-14 and has since played for Atalanta, SPAL and now Napoli.

Petagna has scored 48 goals in 168 Serie A games and hope to convince the Azzurri of selling before the transfer market closes.

Sampdoria started with a 1-0 defeat to the Rossoneri at the Marassi on Monday and continue with an away game against Sassuolo. Petagna played five times for the Blucerchiati when he was 18 years old.
