A report in Germany claims that Red Bell Leipzig coach Ralf Rangnick will take over at Milan this summer.

The German had been linked with a move to Milan some months ago, but it was denied by the club and also by Rangnick.

However, German daily Bild state that the 61-year-old will indeed take over at the Rossoneri for the beginning of next season.

In an unprecedented move, Rangnick would be appointed as a coach, scout and director – effectively becoming the Italian equivalent of the old British approach to coaching.

Rangnick would have full control over transfers, and wouldn’t answer to a director of sport, which is the norm in Italy and most of Europe.

Bild reports that negotiations are at an advanced stage.

Rangnick has guided Leipzig to second in the Bundesliga, however they were top for several weeks before losing ground to Bayern Munich.

They also meet Tottenham in the Round of 16 in the Champions League.
