Report: Chelsea to pay Cuadrado clause

Fiorentina made it clear Chelsea must pay €35m to sign Juan Cuadrado – and it’s reported Jose Mourinho gave the go-ahead.

The Colombian international recently signed a contract renewal in Florence, but it includes a buy-out clause worth €35m.

Fiorentina stated many times that they will only release him if a club comes in to activate that clause.

According to Sky Sport Italia this evening, Chelsea have agreed to stump up the cash.

Around £27.5m, it is a large investment for the 26-year-old winger.

Viola director Vincenzo Guerini confirmed on Sunday that they had “a contingency plan to replace him” if someone did pay the clause.
