Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina will not be suspended, as Sampdoria’s request for television evidence was ruled “inadmissable”.
The Spanish goalkeeper was accused of simulation as Matias Silvestre was sent off in Saturday night’s game, and the Blucerchiati wanted to use video replays for retrospective ban.
However, in today’s disciplinary ruling the Lega Serie A has ruled that Reina has no case to answer.

“With regard to the request under article 35 paragraph 1.3, made on January 9 by Sampdoria with attached video, it is ruled that what was provided by the club does not amount to seriously unsportsmanlike conduct.
“Therefore, the ruling is that the request for examination is inadmissable.”
Silvestre has therefore had his one-match ban for the red card sustained, with Bruno Alves also banned for one match because of his dismissal.
Daniele De Rossi picked up a fifth booking of the season, and the Roma man is therefore banned for one match. De Rossi has also been fined €1,500 as he was captaining the Giallorossi when he insulted a match official.
Roma teammate Antonio Rudiger is also suspended after one booking too many, as are Stephan Lichtsteiner of Juventus, Palermo’s Rangel Cionek and Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
