Andrea Ranocchia believes Italy are on the right track to have a great European Championship campaign next summer.
The Italians have already qualified for next summer's tournament to be jointly hosted by Poland and Ukraine, having conceded just one goal on the way.
Ranocchia told UEFA's official site that he believes the team's progress after a dismal World Cup campaign is the result of hard work, and Cesare Prandelli's influence.
"Yes, we started very well, we have managed to qualify two matches before the end of the qualification phase. That will give us more time to work more precisely and focus on the Euros.
"We're happy with our performances in defence, but it all starts from attack and midfield and we're working hard on that and we have shown it.
"The Coach set things straight again. He came in and cleaned things up, he brought in calm and composure, and new things to focus on."
Inter defender Ranocchia, who misses Italy's games with Serbia and Northern Ireland with an adductor injury, also looked ahead to next year's tournament, and the expectations he believes surround the team.
"Spain won the World Cup so they are at the top at the moment, but we're working hard to catch them up and I believe we're on the right track.
"The expectations are to play a great Euros. We've been working towards that and you saw that in the results of our last few matches. We hope to play a good Euros and to even win it."
