The defender has been repeatedly linked with a transfer this summer, as Zenit St Petersburg, Napoli, Juventus and Milan were all suggested as possible destinations.

“Every year I begin pre-season training with doubts over whether I’m staying or going, but I have always said my professionalism remains intact,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“My contract expires in June 2015 and my thoughts are to remain here, especially as I want to win something. To leave with only a Coppa Italia won would be a defeat.”

It is all change within the Nerazzurri camp under new Coach Walter Mazzarri.

“Christian Maggio talked to me a lot about Mazzarri on international duty and he has made a great first impression on me,” continued Ranocchia.

“We hope to start well and to quickly learn his concepts for the game. I know that you work hard with Mazzarri and from experience the fruits of that labour are reaped during the year.”
