The Nerazzurri took the lead at Trieste with a goal from Mauro Icardi, but Radja Nainggolan made sure the game ended 1-1.

“It’s a let down because we merited the victory,” the centre-back told Inter Channel. “We created a lot and gave away very little on a pitch that wasn’t in the greatest shape.

“Unfortunately, we’re not taking the three points home but we played a good match and we’ll start again from here.

“We’ll now move forward,” added the former Genoa stopper. “It’s a long season and we’ll start focusing on Roma.”

The Beneamata will entertain the League leaders at the Giuseppe Meazza next weekend in the last round before the international break.
