Andrea Ranocchia admits Italy “conceded too many goals recently” after a 2-2 friendly draw with Nigeria.

“We have to keep working. Unfortunately, tonight the chances we created didn’t go in, whereas Nigeria scored with almost all their attempts,” he told Rai Sport.

“It was an extraordinary performance from everyone, as we played good football, moved the ball quickly, went on rapid counters and created good passing moves.

“Unfortunately on international duty we haven’t had much time to work on set play situations. We certainly need to improve, as we’ve conceded too many goals recently.”

Ranocchia has been away on international duty while his Inter teammates got to meet new President Erick Thohir.

“I read the papers, but from tomorrow my head will be back at Inter. This week I’ve been focused on the Nazionale.”
