Ranocchia: ‘Inter faith in Padelli’

Andrea Ranocchia wants Inter to “go as far as possible” in the Europa League, starting with Ludogorets tomorrow, and has faith in goalkeeper Daniele Padelli.

The first leg of the Europa League Round of 32 kicks off in Razgrad on Thursday at 17.55 GMT.

“I always say that when a player is part of the Inter squad, he wears these colours and this badge, it means he must always have high ambitions,” said Ranocchia in his press conference.

The first leg of the Europa League Round of 32 kicks off in Razgrad on Thursday at 17.55 GMT.

“I always say that when a player is part of the Inter squad, he wears these colours and this badge, it means he must always have high ambitions,” said Ranocchia in his press conference.

“On the other hand, we all need to improve, both on the field and off it. This is an important tournament, we want to go as far as possible and it won’t be easy tomorrow.”

The defender was asked if after the January arrivals that this is the strongest Inter side he has ever played in.

“We still have it all to prove, because it’s only February. I hope so, as that would mean winning some trophies. This is the crunch time of the campaign coming up and we’ve got to bring out everything we’ve got.”

It is probably no coincidence that the Nerazzurri have stuttered in recent weeks since losing captain Samir Handanovic to a fractured finger.

How is Padelli dealing with the pressure, criticism and lack of chemistry with his teammates in defence?

“Nothing changes, he is a teammate like all the others,” assured Ranocchia.

“I have the utmost faith in everyone who plays. Obviously, there are roles where it’s easier to be ready right off the bat than others, and all eyes are going to be on whoever replaces a player like Handanovic.

“I think Padelli had some really good games and we have faith in each other.”
