Claudio Ranieri says this is “the Christmas we wanted” as Inter go into fifth place with four consecutive victories.

The Nerazzurri had a rough start, going down to Lecce, but fought back to win 4-1 despite rattling the woodwork four times in the first half.

“When you go a goal down and hit the frame four times, but the team plays well and creates many opportunities, sooner or later you are going to score and the victory will come,” assured Ranieri.

“This is the Christmas we wanted, because we were eager to get back up the table and occupy the positions we deserve.

“I give my lads six out of 10 for the season so far, as they can and must give more. I am happy with the way we played against a Lecce side that was strong on the counter, even if most of their chances were created by our mistakes on a terrible pitch.

“I’m happy for Diego Milito, who has always trained well and was just unable to convert his chances into goals recently.

“Ricky Alvarez has great quality, but he needs to play more often to understand Italian football. Diego Forlan wanted to play the first half, even if he’s not as his best. He was just so eager to get back out there.”
