Ranieri: ‘Leicester can’t make up for Roma’

Claudio Ranieri admits even the Premier League title with Leicester City “cannot make up for losing the Scudetto with Roma by 30 minutes.”

The lifelong Giallorossi supporter was appointed yesterday as caretaker manager after Eusebio Di Francesco was fired.

It is his return to the Stadio Olimpico after sitting on their bench from 2009 to February 2011.

He has since worked at Inter, Monaco, Greece, Nantes and Fulham, but most famously won a shock Premier League title with Leicester in 2016.

“The Premier League with Leicester cannot make up for losing the Scudetto with Roma. Nothing can make up for that Scudetto missed by just 30 minutes,” Ranieri told Roma TV of the 2009-10 disappointment.

“We were winning against Chievo and Inter were drawing in Siena, then they scored a winner late on.

“There’s nothing that can possibly match winning a league title with the club you love and that you are a fan of. Nothing.”
